One of our favorite
pastimes is gardening. We have created several gardens on our property.
For instance, shade garden, parrot garden, rock garden, tall grass garden, pine
gardens and veggie gardens. We take great pride in our plants and have a
vast variety of species.
Garden Art - Steve and I love to decorate and
create so we have lots of unique art in our gardens.
Tropicals - My tropicals cover a wide variety here in west Maryland.
Majestic Palms, calamondin orange tree, elephant ears, bromeliad, pineapples,
lotus, vigna caracalla, musa, tuberose, jasmine and probably more to come.
Bonsai Trials - March of 2008 am attempting to
bonsai a wisteria. Actually forced a blossom from a cutting.
Isle of Dreams - This is our own tropical
island.
Fritillaria as it Progresses - Crown
Imperials are quite delicate and didn't do much last year.
Dracuncula Vulgaris
- Not really meant for
Zone 6, but they sure thrive in my garden. There are 9 coming up this
year.
Growing Changes - Landscape Then & Now
This is a real look at how our landscaping has progressed through the years.
Going from the time I moved in before there were any gardens or hottub.
The progression is quite astounding.
Indoor Plants & Seedlings - I like tending plants inside as well as out and
for the past several years have started lots of seedlings and cuttings under
grow lights. I include my Bonsai on this page as they are mostly nurtured
in the house.
Floral Arrangements -
Fresh floral arrangements on our tables are a must for us. I especially
like the zinnias and grasses as they last quite a while. Take a look at
some past and present arrangements!
Gardens 2001
- New rock garden put in this year down by the pines. Very mild winter so
spent lots of time outside. Lovely glads this year and much more.
Gardens 2002 - Come visit for a while and
see the garden progress through the year of 2002.
Gardens 2003 - Come wander through my garden
this year.
Gardens 2004 - Lots of newbies to show off this
year at home and the cabin.
